The first cape size vessel, mv NGM Sailor carrying cargo from Indonesia, docked at the fully automated coal terminal developed by the Vizag General Cargo Berth Pvt Ltd on Monday, putting Visakhapatnam Port in the elite list of international ports handling big size vessels with a capacity of 2,00,000 dead weight tonnage.
About 1,60,000 tonnes coal reached here through Knowledge Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd for delivery to NTPC. VGCB CEO DK Manral said the company was confident of handling 1.10 lakh tonnes in 24 hours within the berth developed by Vedanta and Leighton Welspun at a cost of around ₹680 crore .
