The Government is still working out a target for renewable energy generation capacity addition for the 2015-16 fiscal, even though it has already announced a long-term target of 175 GW by 2022.

“We are still working on the target for this year. But I think the planning phase is more important. We are a Government that doesn’t believe in setting ambitious targets and not achieving it. To achieve those targets, planning has to be thorough,” the Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Minister, Piyush Goyal, said on Monday.
