NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya on Saturday said that rapid economic growth is the best instrument to counter poverty but it can also create inequality.
“Some aspects of inequality come with rapid growth. We have seen regional inequality in China and in some part in India,” he said at a panel discussion at the Advancing Asia conference of the International Monetary Fund, adding that this is always a concern for policymakers.
“International migration is very critical. Some places there is excess capital and some places there is excess labour. These have to come together,” he further said.
