Investments in renewable energy projects have been to the tune of ₹86,000 crore in the last years, with most of it coming from the private sector.
This was stated by Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Of the total investment, Madhya Pradesh has received the largest amount at ₹14,313.8 crore followed by Maharashtra at ₹13,743.01 crore and Rajasthan at ₹11,632.96 crore.
States and union territories like Puducherry, Lakshwadeep, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya and Goa have received no investment at all for renewable energy projects over the last three years. “Most of the investment in the renewable energy has come from the private sector,” said Goyal.
