A delegation of 17 Israeli companies presented latest technologies in water management to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
Last year, MCGM signed a declaration on its intention to cooperate with Israel on water management.
Mr Rajiv Jalota, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai, said, “MCGM faces the herculean task of supplying safe and secure water to Mumbai. We are very keen to explore the possibility of using advanced Israeli technologies to improve the quality of our service.”
He was participating in a seminar in which the Israel companies showcased their capabilities to senior municipal officials.
MCGM officials said Israel recycles more than 80 per cent of water which will go up to 95 per cent by the end of this year. Israeli companies have engineered numerous water technologies in drip irrigation, desalination, reverse-osmosis, water metering and security of water projects.
Israel has the world's largest desalination plant at Ashkelon and was keen on offering end-to-end solutions and technology transfer.
Mr Elad Gafni, Consul for Economic Affairs, Israel, said, “Israel is one of the world's most important innovation hubs, especially in the water sector and we are happy that private sector companies in India can understand the technologies and help create effective solutions in water conservation and management.”
Ms Orna Sagiv, Consul General of Israel, Mumbai, said Israel has lot to offer and learn from the Indian experience in water management. There is tremendous potential for bilateral cooperation.
The delegation will visit Kerala and New Delhi.
