The Ministry of Civil Aviation along with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry is organising the 5th Edition of India Aviation during March 16-20 at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.

Theme of this year’s show, to be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee and where more than 200 participants are expected, is “Indian Civil Aviation Sector: Potential As Global Manufacturing & MRO Hub.”

After the inauguration at 3 pm on March 16, a Flying display has been arranged by Mark Jefferies from UK. The last Aviation event was held here in 2014.

Being amongst the fastest growing aviation markets and currently the ninth largest civil aviation markets in the world, India is on course to become the third largest aviation market in the world by 2020 after US and China.

Leading manufacturers--Boeing, Airbus, Textron, Embraer, Gulfstream. Dassault, Agusta Westland, Bell Helicopters, and engine manufacturers--CFM, UTC, GE Aviation, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney will showcase their products and expertise. Twenty-nine aircraft ranging from small business jets to big aircraft will be on display at the show.

India Aviation Show is India's largest and globally acknowledged event on civil aviation, according to Anil Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Civil Aviation.

Indian aviation industry has registered a growth of 13 per cent and 10 per cent CAGR for passenger and cargo throughput respectively for the period FY 2003-2013. India plans to be a global aviation hub and one of the top 3 aviation markets worldwide by 2020. By 2020, passenger traffic at India Airport is expected to increase to 450 million from 159.3 million in 2012-2013.

The aviation sector is expected to see investments of $ 12.1 billion during XII Five Year Plan, out of which $ 9.3 billion is projected to come from the private sector. Two hundred low-cost airports are planned to be built in the next 20 years to connect tier-II and tire-III cities, according to Anil Srivastava.

A one-day conference on Indian Civil Aviation Sector: Potential as Global Manufacturing Hub will be held on March 17.
