To strengthen its aerospace ecosystem, Karnataka is planning to use the Vendor Development Summit.

The State government, along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is organising Investors Summit on November 23 and 24 at BIEC, Bengaluru.

A delegation led by RV Deshpande, Minister for Large, Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, on Tuesday met senior executives of Lockheed Martin India and Boeing India in Delhi and promised them to help build exclusive vendor base in the State.

The Karnataka delegation held extensive meetings with many companies, mainly to enquire about their requirements and invited key industries from Delhi to participate in the event. The delegation had B2G meetings with more than 20 companies covering various sectors.

Some of the key industry leaders who met with Karnataka delegation included Phil Shaw, Chief Executive, Lockheed Martin India, Pratyush Kumar, President, Boeing India, Takerma Sakamota, Chief Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Kanav Monga, MD, Virgo Co-operation, SY Siddique, Chief Mentor, Maruti Suzuki India, Dinesh Chhabra, CEO, Usha International, Rahul Munjal, Chairman & MD, Hero Future Energies, D Shivkumar, Chairman and CEO, Pepsico India, Shukia Wassan, Hindustan Coco-Cola Beverages South Asia and Vipin Sondhi, MD, JCB India.

A senior officer of industries department said few companies are already supplying or are part of the vendor base.

“Already, sizeable MSMEs are part of the central public sector and state public sector undertaking’s common platform. This time around we are planning to help small companies in identifying their market and for companies’ vendors of their choice in terms of production capacity and quality standards,” he added.
