Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies company, today inaugurated their India Training Centre close to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
This is the aviation company's third facility, the others being in Connecticut in the US and in China.
The training facility is expected to play a critical role in supporting its growing customer base in India as it supplies engines to power new aircraft.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and senior officials from Pratt & Whitney and UTL.
Mary Ellen Jones, Vice-President, Commercial Engine Sales, Asiapac and China for Pratt & Whitney, said the company's new generation engines have received a good response and the customer base is growing. "IndiGo, GoAir, have placed orders, and we are in talks with Vistara," she said.
The centre here is aimed at extending training, and is part of efforts to provide world-class support and being close to customers.
The Minister said it was heartening to see that various elements of a plan to create an aviation hub that began about two decades ago, were now coming together. There is immense scope for the aviation sector to grow, he said.
