Union Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today said the Modi government is poised to take the economy into the growth path again addressing various economic issues.

Naidu said one has to realise that the Government cannot address all problems at one go as they need to be addressed one after another.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Minister said, In a short time frame after taking over, the Modi government has brought down the fiscal deficit, the prices of commodities have come down and it wont be long before economy grows at a much faster pace. India will grow at 6.5 and 7.5 per cent respectively next year and a year thereafter, which augured well for the country and also aid in attracting investments.

Mentioning about foreign affairs, he said that India has good relations with most countries except Pakistan. In fact, US President Barack Obama has described Modi as Man of Action.

Referring to his role as Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Naidu said the first timers, numbering more than 300, are doing very well in Parliament. This is something the opposition is unable to digest and reconcile to the reality and therefore causing hurdles in smooth functioning and in the passage of bills.

Most of the Bills now being taken up by the Government are those which have been tabled by the UPA Government. Everyday, opposition is forcing adjournment motions and disrupting the proceedings. Government is willing to discuss any issue and respond to the any subject and any queries provided the opposition should cooperate and adhere to the rules.

In fact, most times opposition is raising questions and then walking out without waiting for reply, he said.

On hotly debated issue of religious conversions, the Minister said the Government was against forced conversions and any legislation in this connection would be brought in only after achieving a broad consensus.
