The All India Petroleum Dealers Association said that it has decided to launch a nationwide agitation in phases starting from October 19. In a statement, the association said that, “All dealers had unanimously decided to launch a nationwide agitation in phases to seek attention and create awareness about dealer issues.”
The association pointed out to the poor increment in dealer margins and has suggested changes in dealers’ commission formula as per its recommendations.
In Phase I, all petrol pumps across the country will observe a “Blackout” from October 19-26, for 15 minutes when all lights will be switched off and sales will be suspended during 7-7:15 pm. In Phase II, no purchases will be done on November 3. The association said if demands are not met then in Phase III, no purchase and no sale will be implemented on November 15.
This could see participation from all the 53,000 petrol pumps across the country.
