In compliance with Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu’s directive to increase transparency, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) on Friday placed in public domain full details of its 7,676 works costing ₹40,679 crore on its website.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Urban Development, CPWD is executing 2,583 works at a total cost of ₹24,969 crore. Out of these, 630 are more than ₹5 crore each costing a total of ₹22,174 crore. Of these 630 projects, 112 are progressing as per schedule while 194 are delayed by more than two years, 122 by one to two years, 84 are delayed by 6-12 months while another 118 are running behind the schedule by up to six months. The remaining works include request received, sanctions to be issued and still to be awarded.
Moreover, the website enables access to details project-wise, ministry-wise and state-wise. A provision has also been made for citizens to post a comment or complaint.
