Over 50,000 new banking jobs will be created, with banks planning to open 10,000 branches next fiscal, said Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram. Inaugurating 108 new branches of Indian Bank online from Thiruppuvanam, in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu, he said the bank has opened branches not just in urban centres, but also in semi-urban and rural areas. He also launched a book titled Initiatives of Indian Bank in Urban Financial Inclusion and a booklet on Career Guidance for the Graduate Students , to be provided for free by Indian Bank to the participants of a career guidance programme, said a press release from the bank.
