You can now use the BHIM App to transfer money to the Aadhaar number linked with the beneficiaries’ bank account.

The first update to the BHIM mobile App-which was launched with a lot of fanfare on December 30 — has introduced ‘Pay to Aadhaar’ number as a new payment option.

The updated version—1.2 — is now available on Play Store and has added seven new languages — Odia, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Gujarati. This is besides the existing English and Hindi languages on which BHIM was initially launched on the Android platform.

Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), which aims to make sending, requesting and receiving money directly to and from bank accounts fast and easy, is basically a digital payments App built on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from the National Payments Corporation of India, an umbrella organisation for all retail payment systems in India.

Within 10 days of its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BHIM had clocked 10 million installs and over two million transactions across the UPI and USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) platforms.

Commenting on the new BHIM version, AP Hota, Managing Director & CEO, NPCI, said: “We are pleased to launch the new upgrade for all BHIM users”.

The new version offers enhanced security features, superior user experience which makes digital transactions much more safe and secure, he said.

“We believe this will lead to higher acceptance among customers as well as merchants,” Hota added.

The other new feature of the latest version 1.2 is improved customer redress mechanism with drop down menu.

‘SPAM Report’ for collect requests has also been introduced. This feature will help user to block unknown persons requesting for money.
