The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change launched a web portal for obtaining Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearances on Wednesday, similar to portals launched for environmental clearances for category B projects and for mining of sand and other minor minerals in 2015 and 2016.
Anil Madhav Dave, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Environment, said the portal was a good example of “ease of doing business”. “The system will enable the project proponents and the concerned State/Union Territory bodies like the State Coastal Zone Management Authorities (SCZMAs) and Municipal/Town Planning agencies in tracking the status of their proposals.
The system is based on web architecture, similar to the existing systems in place for according environmental and forest clearances,” the Ministry said.
The Minister added that the web portal has been designed keeping in mind efficiency, transparency and accountability in the process of CRZ clearances.
