The Government aims to make National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliance mandatory for all institutions imparting training and educational programmes for receiving Government funding from 2017, Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy said on Wednesday.
The Government is deliberating on making NSQF certification compulsory for those aspiring to enter Government services, Rudy added.
He was speaking at an interactive session on ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna’ at FICCI here.
“The lack of integration of skill development with education has resulted in disconnect between the industry’s demand for skilled workforce and the available resources,” he said. The Minister urged the private sector to join hands with National Skill Development Corporation and PMKVY to achieve the vision of a skilled India.
Dilip Chenoy, CEO and MD, NSDC, said that the corporation was in the process of identifying facilities and infrastructure available with the institutions at the grass root level to turn them into iconic centres of skill development in the 543 constituencies of India.
