The Government has transferred ₹ 550 crore of subsidy to 1.8 crore LPG customers under the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme since November 15, Dharmendra Pradhan, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister said on Thursday.
“The target is to have 50 per cent of LPG consumers covered by DBTL by time we expand it across the country on January 1. Right now 35 per cent of the customers have already registered,” said Pradhan after taking a review meeting of four districts in Maharashtra.
The modified DBTL was launched on November 15 in 54 districts and allowed customers to join the scheme with only a bank account. Out of 2.33 crore customers in the 54 districts, 75 per cent or 1.8 crore customers had joined the scheme by December 25.
Pradhan added that till now there have been 3,000 complaints from customers relating to the subsidy transfer in their bank accounts. “Out of these 2,800 to 2,900 complaints were dealt within seven days. We have a seamless system in place,” he said.
Officials of the Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Gas and from oil marketing companies have adopted each one of the 676 districts in the country. This has been done to ensure local authorities undertake the DBTL registration process for customers as per the targets.
