South Africa has been developing capacities to increase its exports to India, according to Mzwandile Masina, Deputy Minister-Trade & Industry, Republic of South Africa.

Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the sixth international trade and investment initiative here on Monday, the minister said his country has capabilities in the sectors of agro-processing, mining, food and beverages, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals and capital equipment.

"South Africa is a strategic entry point for investors interested in Africa. We are a key economy on the continent and play an integral role in Africa’s advancement. Our growth comes from our ability to promote our strong commercial brands, build trade partnerships, and investment opportunities,’’ he said.

South Africa was increasingly emerging in the world as an attractive trade and investment hub, he added.

Africa is now a continent that is home to approximately 15 per cent of the world's population and 2.5 per cent of which are Indians living in South Africa.

"`We play a pivotal role in the reshaping of financial and trade architecture on an international platform, and hence look forward to interacting with our Indian counterparts to discuss the possibilities of mutual business partnerships,” said Mr Pule Malefane-South Africa Consul General, Mumbai.
