Ratan Tata's opinion on industrialisation is his personal and the West Bengal does not need his certificate, Firhad (Bobby) Hakim, State Urban Development Minister, said.
The minister was speaking on the sidelines of a seminar organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry.
"(Ratan) Tata is not the chairman anymore he can have his personal opinion....Industrial development in West Bengal does not need Ratan Tata's certificate," he said.
Hakim is the second Bengal Cabinet minister, after Amit Mitra, to attack Tata. Mitra, had earlier in the day called the Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group (Ratan Tata) "senile".
Tata had, on Wednesday, claimed that there was not much visible industrialisation in the State.
According to Hakim, the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal Government was not against the Tatas. But it opposes in the manner in which "land was being forcibly acquired from farmers".
"Our stand remains the same (on land acquisition).... Ratan Tata is trying to politicise our stand and fight for the displaced farmers of Singur," he said.
At a programme in the city, Ratan Tata had also spoken about the relocation of the Nano project from Singur (Bengal) to Sanand (Gujarat); and the financial impact.
The Trinamool Congress', then the Opposition party in Bengal, had opposed the Nano project and subsequent land acquisition leading to its relocation.
