The West Bengal Government will provide subsidy to hardware manufacturers here State IT, Commerce & Industry and Finance Minister, Amit Mitra said here on Thursday.
Subsidy would be provided on registration and stamp duty, generating employment, manufacturing, applying for patents and so on.
"We have taken all the necessary steps to promote IT, ITES and Electronic Systems Design and Manufacturing (ESDM)," Mitra told reporters on the sidelines of the ICC ESDM Conclave.
According to the minister, the aim would be to project West Bengal to be amongst the top 3 states contributing towards IT, ITES and ESDM.
Currently, West Bengal accounts for just 4 per cent of the IT and ITES revenue generated by the segment.
"We want to more than double our revenue contributions to 10 per cent, from the existing 4 per cent," Mitra said.
