Enabling shutdown

I use Windows NT server 4.2. The Login Dialog has a Shutdown button. This button is currently disabled. How do I enable this button?

R. Karthikeyan

To enable the button, these are the steps to follow:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.

2. Point to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder, click the Edit menu, click Find , type in shutdown, and then click Find Next until you get the `ShutdownWithoutLogon' entry.

3. Double-click the ShutdownWithoutLogon value, type 1 , and then click OK .

Close the registry editor and restart the computer. Remember editing the registry is a bit of a risky job. It would be safe to update the emergency repair disk.
