Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Error message
I am using Windows Millennium edition and Office2k. The problem is that some times the screen displays an error message that says "Explorer has caused error on OLEAUT32.DLL. Explorer will close now." When I click on the close button, the desktop seems to be refreshed and nothing happens. What is the problem here? Please suggest a solution. Gaurav Saxena The Oleaut32.dll is a file that handles aspects related to Object Linking and Embedding in Windows. It is a system file, but it must be noted that whenever you install software which has an OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) component in it, the software provider normally ships the latest version (at the time of packaging) of the Oleaut32.dll file to make sure his components work fine. But it may happen that the shipped file is an older version than the .dll file you are having or is probably corrupt leading to such errors. In a typical installation, the installer will inform you that the file to be written is older that the file you already have and ask for the confirmation. To solve the problem, you can simply copy a fresh copy of Oleaut32.dll file from another Windows Me system or run a repair of the Office2k installation which will also replace the oleaut32.dll file.
