Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off System32 problems
Whenever we start Windows NT, a system folder named "System32" appears in an opened position. And a warning that a correct path for a program is not found also appears. We are able to run the system by closing it or pressing "OK". Please suggest a solution for disabling this. And we have a small back-office server in which Outlook Express has been installed for sending and receiving mails. How can we get the same mails into another system in the network for editing, sending, receiving etc?-- Jayakumar. K
This usually happens when there is a null entry or single quote character (") in the registry at the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Please check that the values in key do not contain any incorrect or null entries (such as "") or invalid entries. Windows default setting of the key would look like this, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Value: SystemTray Value Type: REG_SZ Value Data: SysTray.exe If you find anything suspicious remove it. Also check the following key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Here are some keys other than the startup folder for the current user and all users, where a program can be loaded at startup in NT: The following are some other locations where you can check for startup programs. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
