Slow Net access

I have Pentium P III, 700 MHZ, 20GB HDD, 64MB RAM, WINDOWS 98 and a Motorola SM56 Modem in my system for three years now. I have a BSNL connection, Sancharnet, for the Internet connection.

During peak time, when I really need it most in the mornings, the pages open after about three-five minutes. Would a broadband connection help?

It is possible that your network is slow during peak hours. But it would be preferable that you check on the following to see that nothing is wrong on your side and then decide on your ISP.

  • Please see that you have installed the correct driver for your modem;

  • Check that your phone line is clean and gets clear dial tone;

  • Try instilling some Internet accelerating software like net sonic, which you can download from the following URL: http://www.web3000.com/
