Disabling virus

I detected a worm/lovsan virus in my memory. To remove it, I loaded fire antivirus in my system. But the antivirus software just shows the virus, whenever I try to boot my system, but is unable to disable the virus. Please suggest a solution. Is there any other antivirus software that I should load?

Sasi

This is the Blaster virus. This worm exploits the DCOM RPC vulnerability in Microsoft OS Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. A detailed description of this vulnerability is given at the following Microsoft URL: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/tec-

hnet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp.

Symantec has published a removal tool at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html, which you can download and run to remove the virus. You can have a detailed report of the Blaster virus at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.b-

laster.worm.html.
