Can't get chatty

My PC configuration is Pentium III, 64MB and 20GB with anexternal modem (DAX). When I connect to the Internet and after logging in to Yahoo! Messenger, I get an error message: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor." If I close the window that the message appears in, then the Yahoo! Messenger window also gets closed. The message recurs even when I delete the previous instance of Yahoo! Messenger and download a new one from the Internet. Please suggest a solution. - Mouli

First uninstall Yahoo! Messenger (before that, make sure you exit Yahoo! Messenger completely) from your system using the Add/Remove icon in the control panes. This icon is at Start -{gt} Settings -{gt} Control Panel -{gt} Add or Remove Programs. Then install a new version of Yahoo! Messenger. Use a registry Cleaner or manually delete Yahoo! Messenger related keys from the registry. You can also try to upgrade your Internet Browser to 5.5 or 6 and see if that solves the issue. For troubleshooting of Messenger related issues please refer to the Yahoo! Messenger support site, http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/twin/index.html. Here, you can search for known issues with Yahoo! Messenger. All you have to do is just type in the error message you get in the search and you will get a list of similar reported queries and solutions.
