Connecting at snail's pace

My problem is that I am unable to access any Web site, and this requires me to further open another link or page. When I click on any such connecting link, I have to wait for hours and the new page/link never opens; the Internet connection finally hangs. Please tell me why this happens and how I can solve the problem. G. Rajagopal

Please go to Start -{gt} Settings -{gt} Control Panel -{gt} double click on the Add/Remove icon and select Internet explorer and click Change/Remove; in the dialog box that pops up, select Tepair. Restart the system and see if this solves the problem. It is also advisable to upgrade your IE to versions 5.5 or 6 sp2 as most such issues have been fixed in these versions.
