Fun ways to use a PC

I recently bought a Pentium 4 system with an Internet connection. Please let me know of interesting ways to use my computer and also of any interesting and useful software that I can download off the Net.

The Internet has such a vast database that you can get information on virtually anything from it. All you need to know is the Web address of sites from where the information that you require can be accessed.

For this, "search engines" are of immense help. Some well-known search engines are www.google.com; www.rediff.com, www.altavista.com and www.msn.com. Just log onto these sites and type in the information you are searching for. For free tools and utilities, please look up the following URL: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html.

If you are looking for information on topics like how PCs and the Internet work and similar topics, the Web site http://www.howstuffworks.com will be of great help.

One more way to make your PC interesting in the shortest time possible is to buy PC magazines such as PC Quest, Chip or Digit, along with which you get a free CD with lots of free trial software, including games, information, tools, utility, besides new and emerging software. You will also get system updates, patches and virus definition updates with it, which will help you keep abreast of the latest software.
