Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off For dust-free keyboards
B. Madhumitha You can use the vacuum cleaner to clean your keyboard, the blower will be the best option. However, to avoid your keyboard getting dusty in the first place, the best option is to cover it when not in use or put a key-skin over it. This is a transparent skin like cover which will prevent dust from settling over your keyboard. The only disadvantage of using a key-skin is that it may be a little difficult to press the keys with it covering the keyboard. However, if you don't do a lot of typing work this is the best option. If your keys are already stuck and you need to do some real cleaning to get them working, then one method is to pull each and every key out (every key on the key board of a PC can be pulled out and plugged in individually), brush out the dust and plug them all back in. The next level of cleaning is to open the keyboard and clean it. Now, this is a little tricky but it's not all that complicated. All you need to do is make sure that you put the circuit layers exactly one over the other and neatly close the keyboard when it's done. But, if you are not confident of doing it yourself, please seek the help of service personnel.
