The Hindu Business Line : Trouble playing games

I am using a PC with these specifications: P4 Intel 1.8 Ghz, 128 MB Ram, 1.44 MB FDD, 40 GB hard disk with WIN 98 as the operating system.. Whenever I play games such as Gob man, Dave, Speed, etc, the machine suddenly shuts down or hangs. Please suggest a solution. Do I need any supporting software?

Please follow these steps to solve your problem:

The RAM might have a few bit errors, please try correcting them. Clean the rust off the pins and replace them.

Please check that you have installed the correct drivers for your video and audio chips.

Try running the game from DOS mode (boot in DOS mode); if it works well in DOS mode then you will have to check your DOS memory allocation, make all as Auto.

If you have a provision in the game option to change the video and audio settings, try disabling or changing them to a different setting and see if the problem is solved.

And last, please scan your system for bad sectors.
