Swamped by spam

I use Outlook Express and for the last fortnight I have been receiving at least 50 spam mails. A lot of time is wasted in deleting these mails. I tried tackling the problem using the block sender facility, but it persists.

Recently I installed SPAMPAL in my PC, but it is not very effective in containing the spam mail. Please suggest a solution.

To tackle this problem, you could try using MailWasher Pro which is an e-mail filtering software that works directly with your e-mail server, just as your e-mail program does.

You can tell MailWasher Pro to delete unwanted messages on the server, without downloading them onto your system, or you can bounce an e-mail back to the sender so that it looks as if your address is not valid. So first, please check your mails through mailwasher.

You can then delete or bounce those that you do want and use Outlook Express to download only those mails that you want to read. MailWasher Pro uses both powerful rules and Bayesian filters to detect spam.

Additionally, it can check DNS blacklists for known spammers and keep local black and white lists.

To enable the FirstAlert feature, you must be a registered user. You can configure these settings by clicking Tools menu and then Spam Tools.

Here you may customise My Friends List, My Blocklist, My filters, Origin of spam, virus warnings, etc.

Please read the help files for information on how to customise these. You can download the limited version at the following URL: http://www.firetrust.com/products/pro/free.php (2.9 MB) and click `download free trial.'
