Out-of-the-box training

Sir,

This is with reference to the article A bid to extend the bridge by Moumita Bakshi in eWorld dated August 30, 2004. It mentioned e-Chaupal by ITC which is indeed a powerful programme that comes to the aid of farmers. Such projects are much needed and take root effortlessly. However, the training in information and communications technologies (ICT) for women falls short of expectations. It is critical that social organisations look beyond `training' and initiate efforts like e-Chaupal that give participants tangible returns. Training means just that... putting people on track! I believe that social organisations can get serious return on investment with some out-of-the-box thinking.
