Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Compiling news
As part of my job assignments I need to search and compile news items on relevant trade matters from various Web pages and newspapers on a regular basis within minimum timeframe for submission to my top management for business decision. For this I need to browse through all the relevant Web pages of newspapers and save them in a folder regularly, which is a time-consuming and laborious task. Is there a simpler and more efficient way of doing this for example, some programs to link and transfer the data automatically from a set of selected newspapers regularly?
Chakrapani V.K. There are utilities such as "Web Grabbers" which are programs that help you download HTML contents to your local computer in an organised way so that you can browse the site offline as you would do when online. One such tool, which is also a freeware, is "Webreaper". You can get it at http://www.webreaper.net/download.html. There are also some utilities that might interest you which run as a ticker giving you news updates from your favourite sites. There are many such at http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/misctools/fwnews.html
