Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Problems in browsing
I use a system with Windows 98 OS, 56 KBPS modem and a 20 GB HDD. When I browse the Net, Internet Explorer 6.0 hangs. An error message appears: "Do you want to send error report?" But whether I send it or not, all IE windows close automatically. I have been experiencing this problem for two months now, despite getting all updates done through the Microsoft site and also the service pack. Also, when I am chatting through Yahoo Messenger or browsing through IE 6.0, the following message appears: "This program has performed an illegal operation" and it says all windows relating to that program need to be closed. Please suggest a solution. Hari. A. To solve your IE 6 problem, you should download an update tool program provided by the Microsoft site. You can get it from http://download.microsoft.com/download/win95/ update/95/w95/en-us/mspwlupd.exe Please run the tool and restart the system. If you have installed any third-party toolbars or download utility, please remove them and see if the problem gets solved. To remove the toolbars temporarily without uninstalling them, please right click on any of the browser toolbar. In the menu that appears, please unselect the toolbar you want to remove. As for your messenger problem, uninstall the messenger and please install the latest messenger that has most of the issues solved. When you install the messenger, please check that there is no background program running. You can close any running program by bringing up the taskbar by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, just select the program you want to close and click on "End Task". It will be better if you could give us the exact error message you got you can click on the "Details" button to get the full error description.
