Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off YPOPs and Outlook Express errors
I receive all mails from my Yahoo account twice in my Outlook Express inbox. Please suggest a solution, as it takes too long to download all mails.
Rupak Once you have downloaded all Yahoo mails into your Outlook Express inbox, you may change the YahooPOPs settings to download only unread e-mails. To do this, start the YahooPOPs application in your system tray. Double click the YahooPOPs Icon. Then double click (expand) E-mail Preferences and select Receiving E-mail. In the right pane, click the "Download only unread e-mails" which is under Download E-mail Category. This will solve your problem. I have downloaded the YahooPoPs software and installed the e-mail browser; Outlook Express has also been configured as per directions. Whenever I try to open my Yahoo account using either Outlook Express or Outlook, I get an error message: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: `Yahoo', Server: `localhost', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F. How do I solve the problem? Krishnamurthi I am not able to send Yahoo mails through Outlook. Rupak I have tried to configure Yahoo mail as per Outlook Express and it works when receiving mails; but while sending mails, there is an error message: (Task `Yahoo Mail!!!!! - Sending' reported error (0x80042109): Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'). I have installed YahooPOPs. Is it possible to configure Yahoo mail in Microsoft Outlook 2003? Sudhir Is it possible to receive/download Yahoo mails using Microsoft Outlook? I am able to do so with Outlook Express. If yes, please tell me the procedure. Saroj Mohanty The error message may occur if Outlook Express cannot establish a connection with Yahoo's e-mail server. This may be due to any of the following reasons: Incorrect e-mail account settings, misconfiguration of personal firewall software, anti-virus software, or Internet connection through proxy server. To get rid of this problem, please try the following methods, one by one. First make sure your Internet connection is established and the ISP mail account is working. Then check the following settings in Outlook Express. On the Tools menu, click Accounts - Mail tab. Select your Yahoo account and click Properties - Servers tab. At the bottom tick the checkbox of `My server requires authentication' and click Settings button. Select "Log on using" and enter your Yahoo Mail address as the account name and your Yahoo Mail password as the password. Next select the `Advanced' tab and increase the Server Timeout to `Long' (5 minutes). Click OK and close. On the YahooPOPs application, check the following. Double click the YahooPOPs application in the system tray and then double click (expand) Advanced Preferences - Network. On the right pane tick the option `Enable SMTP'. If you access Internet through a proxy server, you may need to set the proxy's settings. On the Advanced Preferences of YahooPOPs, select proxies. In the right pane enable the option "Connect to the Internet via an HTTP proxy server" and type the details of host address and port etc. Now check whether your problem has been solved. Most anti-virus software have an e-mail scanning feature. You temporarily disable it and check. If you have installed any Web security, Web filtering software or if it is combined with your anti-virus software, please disable it and check. Also close or disable any Personal Firewall software like Norton Personal Firewall, ZoneLabs, Sygate etc. You may be able to resolve this problem by creating a new Yahoo e-mail profile in your Outlook Express. To do this, open Outlook Express. Click File - Identities - Add New Identities; other settings are same as before.
