Font trouble

I have Windows XP as my operating system. All of a sudden, some fonts in italics have started appearing. I have done nothing manually to change fonts. Why is this happening? Please suggest a solution.

Vishwanath

Usually we can change fonts by right clicking on the desktop, on - Select Properties - Appearance - Advanced - and select the area we want to change and make the necessary font changes.

Since you have mentioned not manually changing the fonts, this particular font, most likely (from your attachment file) Arial font (Arial.ttf) has either got deleted or corrupted.

To check this, please open your wordpad and click Format - Font. On the Font screen, select Arial and check on Font style box. Also observe the sample output, whether it shows normal Regular font or Italics font. In this way, you can isolate the font problem and identify that font which is causing trouble. From the windows\Fonts folder, you can simply copy the font from another machine onto a floppy or write it into a CD and install it on your machine.

To manually install or re-install font, please login as administrator and click Start - Run - type - click ok. This will open the fonts directory. Click File - Install New Font. In the Drivers box, click the drive that has the floppy or CD-ROM that contains the fonts you want to add.

Double click the folder that contains the fonts and select the font you want to add. To select more than one font at a time, press and hold down the Ctrl key while you click each font. Also check the

`Copy fonts to Fonts folder' check box and click ok. This will install the selected fonts to your

system fonts folder. For more details please refer the following URL:
