Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off For latest Web page
Whenever I revisit a site I had visited earlier, it comes up with the old Web page. I have to press F5 every time to get the latest page. Why does this happen? Please suggest a solution. Geetha M.S. Every time you visit a Web page, Internet Explorer makes a copy of the content of these pages as files on your computer. These files are called Temporary Internet Files and are used to allow for faster display of the Web sites that you visit. Depending on the cache setting, when you visit a Web site, Internet Explorer will compare the content of that Web site with the information stored in the Temporary Internet Files. One can select the cache settings depending on one's requirement. To do this, please open Internet Explorer and click Tools - Internet Options. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings. For your requirement, please select "Every visit to the page" option under Check for newer versions of stored pages. This will solve your problem. If, however, you still face problems, you'll have to go to the registry. Here, edit the SyncMode5 DWORD value in the following registry key to verify the correct setting: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\InternetSettings. The data values for the SyncMode5 value include: 0 - Never, 2 - Every time you start Internet Explorer, 3 - Every visit to the page, 4 - Automatically.
