Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Enabling anti-virus protection
I have a system with Win XP, 2.4Ghz Pentium, 80 GB, 256 RAM. Whenever I try to enable `NAV2003 Auto Protect', I get an error message "Norton Antivirus has encountered an internal error - click here to go Symantec Technical Support Knowledge Base.. 4002,517". How do I enable Auto Protect? Deepak Jain This issue has been solved by Symantec in the latest update of "Symantec Common Client". So please connect to the Internet and run the live update program. You will find it in your start menu under the Norton Antivirus menu. Complete the update and restart the system and see if the problem is solved. If the problem is unresolved, then do the following. Please go to ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/symevnt/sevinst.exe, save the tool in c:\ go to Start -{gt} Run and type in C:\sevinst.exe /FORCEUPDATE and press enter. This will reinstall the Symantec shared files; restart the system. Also check to see that you have not disabled any start-up program, which belongs to Symantec. You can check this in msconfig, type in msconfig in Start -{gt} Run and press enter. Please select the start-up tab and see that all the entries related to Symantec (name contains Symantec or points to Symantec installation folder) are all selected. Finally start your system in safe mode and run a full scan of your system and then start the system normally.
