For a smooth voice chat

I use a PC with Microsoft XP Professional as the operating system. I am not an experienced user and had to get it reformatted by technicians. But now, after formatting, when I voice chat with my friends, I can hear them clearly but they cannot hear me.

I got my mike tested, it is in good condition. I cannot understand why I am not heard. Please suggest a solution. Zainab Ebrahim

You need to run the `Audio Setup Wizard', a tool provided by Yahoo to get your audio connections tested and set up. This tool will help you identify the problem. It is available under the `Help' menu of Yahoo Messenger. It is also available at http://download.yahoo.com/dl/update/yacswiz.exe.

The wizard will test your speakers, mike, echo level, Internet connection and conference settings step-by-step. You need to pass all the tests to have a successful voice chat. If you fail any test, you need to do the recommended actions listed by Yahoo at the following URL: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/voice/vwiz/

Please e-mail us at eworld@thehindu.co.in if you have queries on computer usage or if you find an interesting way of using a computer.
