Error message

I use a system with Windows XP Professional updated with Service Pack 2. Every time the system boots, I get a message that an error has occurred and that a report needs to be sent to Microsoft Corp.

How do I prevent this message from appearing? Earlier I used to get a message that new hardware had been detected on the parallel port.

If I went ahead with the installation, the system would not be able to locate the driver for the same. I have only one deskjet printer connected to the parallel port and it has been already installed.

However, this message does not appear, of late. How it has stopped altogether is a mystery. Please suggest a solution for the error message that appears on booting.

It looks like one of the programs loading when Windows starts up has some problem.

To check it out, please take the following steps: go to Start -{gt} Run type in `msconfig' and press Enter. In the `Start up' tab, unselect the programs with a tick mark one by one and restart the system and see if your problem is solved. Repeat this process till you find the problem-causing program. Once it is identified, you have two options: either remove the program if it is unnecessary or reinstall the application either by repairing or uninstalling and then reinstalling the application.
