Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Deleting keylogger files
I found out that I had a keylogger in my computer, so I used Norton to do a full system scan and tired to delete it. It didn't get deleted, so I put the system into safe mode, searched for the file and deleted it from there. I then ran the system through normal mode again and did a full system scan. But I found I had new keylogger files. I realised there was no point in going into safe mode and that Norton did not delete the file. I got spyware doctor to delete these new files. I did a full system scan, selecting keyloggers and pressing `fix.' Now these files are in quarantine. Can they still cause my system any damage?
Louis Murray Since these files have been quarantined, it is as good as their not being present in the system. There is no way these files can be executed again. To protect your system from such loggers permanently, it is advisable that you use `Real Time Protection' software such as the MS Anti Spyware tool. This will prevent loggers and spyware from entering your system. Spyware Doctor also has the Real Time Protection feature, but it is not enabled till you pay and become a registered user. So, for now, it will detect the loggers only when you run it. MS Anti Spyware is totally free with realtime-protection enabled. You can download it from this URL: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/ spyware/software/default.mspx
