Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off For a secure system
My system has the following configuration: Pentium Celeron Processor, 30 GB hard disk, 128 MB RAM and Windows XP operating system. The problem is that whenever I boot up the system, at that point automatically a window appears, prompting for an Internet connection from a Web site. Is this caused by virus trouble? Please suggest a solution. Nivedita Banerjee Please download and install Adaware SE from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ It is a spyware detector. You can also install the spyware detector released by Microsoft, which you can download from http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx, As we have been stressing repeatedly, to avoid such problems, please install Windows XP Service Pack 2 in your system. This will make your system more secure. For more on XP SP2, please read the article at http://www.hindu.com/mp/2004/09/11/stories/2004091100330200.htm Once you have installed SP2, please enable the Windows Firewall in the control panel. This will secure your system on the Internet.
