Bluetooth vs infrared

I am using a NOKIA 6600 cell-phone. I would like to know which of these has higher data transfer speed, infrared or bluetooth, when transferring data from my PC.

I would also like to know about the MultiMedia Card reader-cum-writer, and how much it costs. Could you also suggest some Web sites from where I can download cell-phone games and other applications?

Bluetooth has got much higher transfer rate than Infrared. Additionally, Bluetooth doesn't require line of sight as in the case of infrared where the infrared ports of both the devices need to face each other in a line of sight. In the case of bluetooth, the devices can be placed anywhere within the range of the device, which ranges from 10 to 100 meters.

Regarding Card reader, you can use it to read and write data to the MMC card (Memory card) that came with your phone. It is the fastest way for transferring large amounts of data to your phone.

The transfer rate is much higher on a USB 2 interface, but the hitch is every time you need to transfer data to your MMC card using the reader, you need to switch off your phone and remove the MMC card from the phone to do the transfer.

Considering this, bluetooth is a better alternative.

Here are some links where you can download software for Symbian mobile phones:

While it is happy news that Symbian OS has access to a huge number of applications and games, it's also an alley way for the entry of virus into your mobile device.

You can stand on safe ground by installing an anti-virus software for your Series 60 phone.

Here is a link where you can download anti-virus software by Symantec for Symbian OS. It is a demo version.

The live protection turns off after the demo period but you can still use it to do manual scan.

Trend Micro has also released an anti-virus product for Symbian OS Trend Micro Mobile Security. It is for UIQ users too and you can download it at

There is one more useful tool from Symantec that you can download for removing some common virus from your mobile.
