Offline Web pages

Is there any method by which I can save the visited Web pages (30 in number) on my computer permanently, at one go?

When I disconnect the Internet, I can still see some of my pages but after two or three days, I can't open them by going to `history' (though I have marked 15 days to preserve `history').

Also, in the `temporary Internet files' folder, I just see information about pages but I can't open them. Please suggest a solution.

One way to do this is to save the pages as `Offline Contents.' You can do this by clicking on the `Favorites' menu in Internet Explorer, and then on `Organize Favorites.'

In the dialog box that appears, please select the favorites link that you want to save offline and click the `Make available offline' check box on the left.

Repeat the process for all the links you want to save offline and finally click close. Internet Explorer will synchronise the selected sites to your local hard disk.

Once this is done, you can view the offline pages even when not connected to the Internet.

You can update these Offline Contents by clicking on Tools -{gt} Synchronize, whenever you connect to the Internet. This will keep the Contents updated with the live site.

The other way to do this is to save each of these pages as HTM Web pages or as Web Archives (.mht) files.

The better option will be to save them as .mht file. This basically stores all the contents of the page you are saving into one single file with an extension of .mht.

This makes it ease to carry around the saved pages on a media or to mail it around to be shared.

To save the page as .mht please do this: While connected to the Internet, open the page you want to save, and in the file menu, select File -{gt} Save As.

In the dialog box that appears, please select the folder in which to save, type in a name and for the `Save as Type,' select `Web Archive' and click on Save.

This will save the page in the selected location.

To see the page, you have to just double-click on the saved file.
