If you can `wear' your keys, you won't forget to take them. - P.V. SIVAKUMAR
You are driving to the club for a big party and suddenly you panic: did I bring the house keys, my mobile phone and my purse? Admit it, it has happened to you at least once, even though you get annoyed being reminded about it. So Sonali Sridhar, a student at New York University's ITP programme, has designed a set of three wearables that go some way to helping you remember your essentials when you go out. Balance | Imbalance is a blouse/shirt/jacket that does not have any electronics in it; it is a mechanical solution. It is designed cleverly using elastics in such a way that if the pockets do not have the requisite items, the shirt bunches up, exposing the wearer's midriff. The weight of the items pulls down the elastic so that the shirt covers the wearer properly. This means that the wearer will feel the imbalance in a physical way if an item is missing. Presence | Absence is a jacket that has some technology in it, but quite basic still; the items will complete a circuit when placed in their respective pockets and the jacket will indicate what's missing through LED lights. Conversation | Silence is the most technical jacket of the lot in the sense that it uses communications technology (bluetooth, to be exact) between the items to complete the circle and keep you comfortable. Check out details at http://www.sonalis-pod.com/remember. And don't forget to look at the lights when you do get one of these jackets!
