Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off DHCP address
My system gets disconnected from the network every one hour and then reconnects. Please suggest a solution. The list you have provided is about the configuration of the network adapter. Here, it is configured to get the IP (Internet Protocol) address from the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server. Each computer in the network should have a valid network address, Subnet mask, Gateway, etc, properly configured for communication. This can be done manually. This is called Static IP. The other way is through a DHCP server. This is called Dynamic IP. The computer with DHCP Enabled, when booting, will send a broadcast message requesting the IP address. The DHCP server responds to this by issuing an IP address, Subnet mask, Gateway and other required values. The network administrator configures the DHCP server, the range of IP addresses it should allocate to the clients and the validity of this address assignment. The server maintains the information of which IP addresses have been assigned and the list of unassigned addresses. The validity of the assigned address is also maintained. If the DHCP assignment is going to expire, the client again sends a message to the DHCP server and the server reassigns the IP address. The client stays in the network. If the reassignment is not successful, the client gets disconnected from the network. With regard to your system, the validity of the IP address expires every one hour. This leads to the network disconnection. Please approach your network administrator to increase the validity of the expiry period. Normally, the expiry period is for 3-7 days. The period is for a few hours for temporary connections such as an external person joining the network. The "DHCP Lease obtained" is the time when this computer was assigned the IP address. The "DHCP Lease Expires" is the time when this IP address assignment expires. The client will again communicate with the server for the IP address. The client may also get the same IP address again.
