Restoring CD collection

I had a collection of a few files in a CD, written using Nero (multi secession). There was enough space in the CD for more files. I happened to come across a good video clip in my friend's system and asked him to copy it to my CD.

But now, to my dismay, I find that the old collection has vanished and I have only the recently copied clip. I have tried recovering the old collection, but in vain. Could you help restore the old files since they are important? Another query I would like to raise with you is: what is the use of printer driver files? How are they used to print files?

Johnson A.F.

This may happen only in two scenarios. One is, your CD should be a CD-RW, which means a Re-Writable CD. When your friend copied the file, he might have used the `Erase Disc' feature to delete all the files in your CD and burn the new contents on it. If it is a CD-R, meaning Record-able CD, then the only possibility is, it may be a same brand (manufacturer) of another CD. Old files recovery may not be possible.

Regarding your second query, similar to any other device installation, a printer also needs to be installed properly. After installation, the printer can be used to take printouts from all the applications. It is possible to use all the features of the printer. If the printer is not installed with the suitable driver, you may get a print error. Some documents will not get printed properly. The printer driver is responsible for interpreting the print command from the operating system and converting the data suitable for the printer to print the complete document.
