Turn rubbish into art

Turning spam into a work of art. - R.SHIVAJI RAO

I am under attack from the spam-bots! Mostly one can make out the junk because of the bad spelling and grammar in the subject line, but increasingly genuine e-mail also contains bad spelling and worse grammar, and some mobile shorts thrown in as well.

This means that we do spend some time looking through the junk. And that does rile me up! But can I get away from it? No, because I don't want to risk not responding to a genuine e-mail.

So I do have to live with it, but there are some things that might make it more bearable, like making something aesthetic out of it.

One such effort is Spam Plants by Alex Dragulescu (http://www.sq.ro/spamplants.php), which produces beautiful images.

If you tend towards animation and movement, check out VISP mailbox, a visualisation of virus and spam activity from a mailbox by Machfeld (http://www.machfeld.net/visp/mailbox/index.html).

And if you are oriented towards street art, check out the Spamgraffiti online installations (http://www.spamgraffiti.com/spamgraffiti/).

You wish you had something similar to Spam Plants for your own mailbox?

You can create new plants based on e-mail from your boss, colleagues, friends, business contacts and, of course, your better half.

Just make sure that you don't get depressed seeing some species of cacti generated from your boss' e-mail!
