Problem with my keyboard

I have Intel Pentium 4, 640 MB RAM, with Compaq Internet keyboard. I have installed two OS: Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional. Recently I found that two of my keyboard buttons appear to have been reconfigured. The `up' key acts as the `alt' key and the `left' key functions as the `Back' key. The `right' and `down' keys seem unaffected. I uninstalled the driver and redetected using restart, but the problem persists. Also, this problem does not surface in any games, where the keys function normally. The problem affects both the OS, and even during startup when selecting the OS. Please help.

To get rid of this problem, boot your system in safe mode. Restart your computer and gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys and press enter. In safe mode it will not load any specialised drivers. If the keys are working fine, then you have to look at the keyboard software. Compaq Easy Access can be used to configure the keys. Use the following procedure to reconfigure the keys:

To change the functions of the keys,

* Click on Compaq Easy Access Icon in the taskbar.

* Click on Configure Easy Access Buttons.

This will bring up a screen; you can change the program associated with both the Easy Access and Internet buttons by clicking on the browse button and choosing the new program. There are also options to remove the Easy Access program from Startup and Enable/Disable the buttons.

At the top of the screen you will find a tab called Onscreen Display. Here you can configure the onscreen volume display.

To reinstall the Easy Access Software, in Windows Explorer open the folder C:\CPQDRV\EasyAcc and double click on Setup.exe. This will reinstall Easy Access Buttons. The drivers should also be on the Quick Restore CD. Hope this solves your problem.
