Auto loading of Windows Messenger

I would like to stop Windows Messenger from loading when the system starts up. Please suggest a solution.

Suresh.V

Please follow these steps to stop Windows Messenger from loading when Windows starts. Open your Outlook Express and click Tools - Windows Messenger - Options - Preferences tab - uncheck both "Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts" and "Allow Windows Messenger to run in the background" and click ok.

If you have installed Windows XP Professional, another method is by using Group policy to

prevent Windows Messenger loading at system start-up.

Please Click Start - Run - type "gpedit.msc" and click ok. This will bring up the Group Policy window. Expand (click plus sign) Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - click Windows Messenger. On the right pane, two settings will be displayed. The first one allows you to disable Windows Messenger and you can use the second setting to stop Windows Messenger from automatically being run at login. Please double-click this and click Enable and click ok to stop automatic loading when you log on. For more information please refer http://www.petri.co.il/disable_windows_messenger_in_windows_xp.htm
