What do you do with old scratched or damaged CDs that you can't use or retrieve data from any more? Some of us junk them; some of us give them to the friendly neighbourhood autorickshaw driver to hang as charms; and some of us simply keep them, braving the ire of loving family and friends who urge us to "just throw out all those darn thingamajigs!" If you are the kind that keeps the old CDs, well, you now have a dashed good reason for doing so. If you are not, but are interested in abstract music compositions, you may start to hoard up a whole mountain of them. Simon Blackmore (http://www.simonblackmore.net/) has created an LSD drive (nothing to do with drugs; LSD drive here is Light Sensitive Disk Drive) that can literally read the old disks and create music based on processing the data it can read from the old or damaged disk. He has also created a Weather Guitar (http://www.simonblackmore.net/guitar/), part guitar and part robot, where the robot-guitar creates music depending on the state of the weather. Meanwhile, you now know what to do with the pesky little CDs that arrive unsolicited at your table.
